On this day in 1998..... (Meiringein, Switzerland)

I was in Meiringein, Switzerland.

Today I opened up my memory box for the first time in years and found my travel diary.  It was so much fun looking back over my memories and laughing at myself.  I always had a diary when I was younger and I shared everything (and I mean everything!).  So I thought I would share some of it with you.  Here is an exert from the 3rd March 1998:

Today Jodie & I went on a mission to find Matt.  From here we caught a train to Meiringein then trapsed around the village wondering where the hell to start but then the freestyle office looked good ....

I won't continue as the way I wrote is terrible and boring!

Meiringen, Switzerland
So what was I doing on the other side of the world in a tiny snow town in Switzerland?  I had not long arrived in Switzerland on my European adventure and Meiringein was where I was meeting an American skier (who shall remain nameless, there must be more than one American skier called Matt) that I had fallen for and had a brief relationship with in Australia.  I was working at Mt Buller and he was there to compete in the World Cup Aerials competition.

Yes I know I know I can hear you now thinking it - "She left home to meet a boy", what happened?  Exactly what you would expect happened, we had a few weeks of travelling while he competed and had a great time then he had to go home and I was on my own. All over red rover.  I look back now and wonder what the heck I was thinking!!  But I would do it all over again because the next few years were some of the best adventures of my life!

Palm Cove - We have arrived!

Well here we are finally on holiday, our first since Olive came into the world. I've got a spare 15 minutes while hubby is down at the supermarket getting supplies for the week and a glass of wine so thought I would take that time to update my blog (which I've been threatening to do all week).

The main reason behind our holiday is to celebrate my father in laws 60th birthday (belated) so we have the whole family with us - all in different suites of course! We decided on Palm Cove just out of Cairns as none of us had ever visited before.

As many of you know planning a holiday with a 1 year old is not that easy so we decided to stay in an apartment style accommodation rather than a hotel so we can make it as homely as possible and have access to a kitchen to prepare food for Olive easily and have enough space for her to play. We have stayed in a few Peppers before and so we decided on the Peppers Beach Club & Spa.

Now that I'm here I am really happy with our choice. The apartment is really well set out and Peppers have provided everything we asked for to make sure our stay is easy - a cot and a high chair. We got a 2 bedroom so Olive would have her own room and we can keep to her sleep schedule. I put her down about an hour ago and she's sleeping soundly - fingers crossed it lasts all night.

So all is well after the first few hours and the weather outlook is looking good for the week (aside from a few showers but this is the tropics!) so here's to a great holiday, relaxing week and of course happy birthday Gaz

Cheers
Lisa

Holiday pictures

I thought I would do a quick post tonight as I am sorting through the photos we took while in Palm Cove last month and came across this one of Olive that I just love!
Picture
Yes, yes I might be starting the designer sunglasses just a lit bit early but she absolutely loved them and good taste never hurt anyone!

Oh and this shot is certainly one I will be pulling out at her 21st!
